Life is kind of funny!! I feel like everyone that I knew in High School has disappeared. The friends I use to be close with are all gone. However with this change comes all new people, friends and relationships.
However what does not change is some of my interests and goals.
I started learning Japanese five years ago. Although I started a long time ago I still feel like a beginner. I feel like I have not yet completed the beginners stages of Japanese. In honestly I always believe there is something more. More vocab. More rules. More...and this beginner Japanese I am talking about.
When some of my friends ask me to teach them a few words in Mandarin or Japanese I generally refuse. Why? I feel there is someone, way, more experience to teach them.
So when I started University on September 4th , 2012 and signed up for Japanese 100 my previous teacher as baffled. She ask me why I did not try to begin at a higher level and I told her: "Because I still feel there is more to learn. I do not feel experience enough to jump ahead."
Every teacher is different. One math teacher is not the same as a another. Every teacher has something to bring to the table. It the same for languages. All language teachers have different ways and styles of teaching things.
My favourite class this semester is by far Japanese. I love my classmates and professor. Sure, I do find some of the material easy. However, I enjoy the refresher. Also my writing always need improving.
I also have been able to learn some new words, or words I did not (previously) study hard enough on.
Languages have always fascinated me. There is always something new to learn about them. There is never a time when a refresher is not needed or good.
A language is more then just words, there is a culture beneath everything that is said or written.
In other news...
I am meeting with my Academic Advisor on Friday :D
There I will talk with her about my exchange, if I am allowed to go and what schools in Japan I want to attend.
I have already chosen one school I think would benefit me. I have heard good things about it from fellow classmates and my Japanese professor.
However until I have a application form in my hands or know more I am not going to say what school I want to or think I want to ...attend.
